University of Vigo

The Universidade de Vigo (UVIGO) is a young public academic institution officially founded in 1989 that has managed to consolidate itself in time as a reference of modernity and innovation in Galicia. It has three main objectives: to provide higher education services with high quality rates and oriented to promote work placements among its students, giving priority to internationalization; to promote a basic and applied research through competitive research groups at an international level; and to transfer its knowledge and scientific advances to the society in order to foster an intelligent, sustainable and integrating growth of all its surrounding territory.
The UVIGO is organized in three campuses, placed in three different cities: Vigo, Pontevedra and Ourense; all of them in the South of Galicia, Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Our institution leads a Campus of International Excellence, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education in 2010, a Campus of the Sea that gathers the teaching and researching efforts of seven public universities in Galicia and North of Portugal, as well as those of two national research organisms. In its three campuses at Ourense, Pontevedra and Vigo, our institution offers degree programs in the fields of engineering, science, humanities, technology and legal-social studies. These are distributed among nearly thirty centers where research groups also carry out activities. A network of own research centers completes the research infrastructure map.

University of Antwerp

The University of Antwerp is an internationally oriented research university with a student body of 20.000, whereof 16% are international students. It is characterised by its high standards in education, internationally competitive research and entrepreneurial approach. It offers 33 Bachelor, 86 Master, 32 Advanced Master and 27 postgraduate degrees – all Bologna compliant – organised in 9 faculties, 48 centres and 20 institutes. 24 programmes are entirely taught in English. Doctoral programmes are available in all faculties. ECTS is fully implemented in all study programmes. UAntwerp boasts 9 Research Centres of Excellence and counts several internationally renowned research groups. Concerning its educational policy UAntwerp focuses on 4 domains: the nexus between education/research, competence-based training, activation of the student and internationalisation.
Antwerp has extensive experience in the management of international cooperation projects both in research and education. The University has participated successfully in all European educational programmes, both as coordinator and partner: Socrates/Lifelong learning (mobility, IPs, Curriculum development, Grundtvig, Lingua, Comenius), Leonardo, Tempus (MEDA/TACIS/CARDS countries), Asia-link, Alfa and Alban, Edulink, Erasmus Mundus Action 1, Erasmus Mundus Action 2, Jean Monnet (holder of different chairs), Tuning, EU/US Atlantis.

University of Warsaw

University of Warsaw (UW) was established in 1816 and is a public research-oriented HEI, Poland’s largest and finest university. From its beginning, UW has played a major role in the intellectual, political, and cultural life of Poland, and is recognized worldwide as a leading academic centre in Central Europe.
The quality of education assurance and enhancement system at UW is built with the observance of the autonomy and specific character of the UW units in the conviction that high quality is strengthened by self-evaluation, dialogue, cooperation, support and popularisation of the best and most effective solutions. Research on the conditions of education and recommendation of the actions influencing the enhancement of QA are conducted regularly by the University Team, Faculty Teams and Unit Teams for Quality of Education Assurance.

University of Vienna

The University of Vienna is a public university in Vienna, Austria, which was founded in 1365 and is the oldest university in the German-speaking world. With its long and rich history, the University of Vienna has developed into one of the biggest universities in Europe, and also one of the most renowned, especially in the Humanities. It is associated with 15 Nobel prize winners and has been the academic home of a large number of figures both of historical and academic importance.
The Center for Translation Studies (Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft) of the University of Vienna is a faculty-level organizational unit with a total of 140 members of teaching staff and more than 4000 students. It focuses on teaching and research in the area of translation studies, which includes such fields of activity as translation, interpreting, terminology and intercultural communication. The study programs offered at the Center include a BA in Transcultural Communication, an MA in Translation and a PhD program in Transcultural Communication. Professional education in the Master’s program is offered in 14 different languages and covers such domains as conference interpreting, community interpreting, literary translation, media translation, terminology management, translation technologies, localization, multilingual content management and technical communication.

De Vlaamse Radio en Televisieomroeporganisatie NV – VRT

The Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (Flemish Radio and Television Broadcasting Organization), or VRT, is the national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Region and Community of Belgium. It currently has four channels: Eén (the main channel, formerly known as VRT TV1), Canvas (the quality channel), Ketnet (the children’s channel) and Sporza (the sports channel).
VRT occupies a key position in the Belgian society, focusing on information, culture and education, both broadening and in-depth. VRT invests in independent and high-quality journalism to provide impartial, independent and reliable information and interpretations. It also encourages cultural participation, has an interest in the cultural diversity in Flemish society and offers a window on the world. VRT makes culture accessible to a wide audience in a way that broadens, deepens and stimulates the media users’ interest in culture and encourages them to participate in Flemish Society’s rich, cultural programmes. VRT particularly supports children’s and young people’s education and often engages in a broader cooperation with educational institutions, with a view to sharing actual content.

INTRO PR Monika Szczygielska

The Dostępni.eu team (company name: INTRO PR Monika Szczygielska) is an access services provider with experience in (live) subtitling, audio description, sign language interpreting, Internet accessibility and accessibility training. It has unique experience in providing access services for live events. Dostepni.eu is a pioneer in the field of respeaking in Poland. Since 2013 it has been working on the implementation and development of live subtitling in this country. It has vast experience in live subtitling for online streaming of conferences, including those held at the premises of the Polish Parliament, and other live events. It has experience both in intra- and interlingual respeaking, and has participated in international projects. It cooperates with Polsat TV channel (one of the two main private broadcasters in Poland) in the first live subtitling provision for entertainment shows. It is the first and only provider of live subtitling through respeaking for Polish TV.
Dostepni.eu contributes to ILSA with its experience in live subtitling for, amongst others, conferences with representatives of the European Commission, members of the Polish Government, MEPs, as well as international events, such as the canonization mass of pope John Paul II or an international music festival. During those events it has provided live interlingual (English-Polish and Polish-English) subtitles. Dostepni.eu also participates in training projects (including those organized in cooperation with University of Warsaw) and conducts accessibility training sessions. The team also studies the quality of live subtitles and researches ways of optimizing accessible multimedia solutions.

Parliament of Galicia

The Parliament of Galicia is the legislative regional body in charge of enacting Acts addressed to face citizens’ needs. It is a democratic elected body which represents the interest of Galician citizens, almost 3 million inhabitants, not only at regional level but also at European level through the European Regional Parliaments network. In particular, the Parliament has legislative and budgetary responsibilities, is in charge of the election of the Regional Government and President, and the control and political support for the Executive. Moreover, the Parliament, has, under the Spanish Constitution, Legislative initiative before the Congress of Deputies, appoints three Senators to the Senate and it is entitled before the constitutional Court.
One of the main goals of the Parliament of Galicia is to convey as effectively as possible to all Galician citizens the work that this institution is conducting to address their needs and to engage them with democratic life. To that end, the Parliament of Galicia broadcasts live all the plenary sessions and working committees sessions which are also available to download, at anytime, from the Galician Parliament website. The Parliament of Galicia is notably involved in making its work accessible to all Galician citizens and beyond, especially to those with some kind of disability, such as deaf people. It is for this reason that the Galician Parliament broadcasts all its plenary sessions with sign language.
